The Pool Lifeguard course includes in-depth training on topics which include: The Role of a Pool Lifeguard; Scene & Safety Assessment; Legislation and Legal Considerations; Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Recovery Position; Sudden Cardiac Arrest; Heart Attack; Hygiene & Personal Protection against Cross Infection; Oxygen Therapy; Automated External Defibrillator Overview and Use; Emergency Assistance Plan; Chain of Survival and Water Rescue Techniques.
The Kalliopi First Aid Training Pool Lifeguard course begins in a meeting room or conference room with an introductory presentation in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. As the course progresses, we move to the swimming pool for in-water practical work and dry-side technique.
To ensure both theoretical and practical elements of the Pool Lifeguard course is enjoyable, interesting and effective, we use a combination of teaching methods including; Powerpoint presentations with audio visual / video elements and other presentation aids; fun team building exercises; team practice of first aid, lifesaving and rescue techniques and easy, practical team scenarios. Coffee Breaks, lunch and rest periods are built into the Pool Lifeguard training programmes.
During the course there will be hands-on practice of CPR on manikins and in-water scenarios simulating the rescue of victims. Of course these exercises involve a moderate amount of physical activity, both in and out the water, so both casual clothes and swimwear will be required to be worn. We provide participants with their own copy of course training materials and educational handouts which can be used afterwards as useful reference materials. Pool Lifeguard certifications are issued by us after the successful completion of all elements of the course and a final assessment. The ability to swim reasonably well is a pre-requisite of the Pool Lifeguard Course.
This Pool Lifeguard course is approved for subsidy by the HRDA / ΑΝΑΔ / ANAD. Pool Lifeguard course certifications are issued and approved in accordance with government legislation in Cyprus.
